Boots of Planes -- what about the troops !?!?

When a commander uses Boots of Planes to move unlimited distances, do the troops he is commanding come along with him?

troops will stay where they are : boots of planes cast teleport and not gateway.

Gate Stone, another artifact, can be used to move armies. There's also The Flying Ship.

EDIT: THE, not a, flying ship. Pocket Ship is the non-unique one.
