One thing I\'d love... ok maybe two or three things
Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd love to be able to change the scripting for the ministers during the game. Create new colony types, ship types/tactics, all as part of playing as part of the game play.
I love using the ministers as my game starts to get larger and larger, and I'd love to customize the way they manage my empire. I like to set everything up as part of a system that can operate without me doing a thing, then jump in and adjust things on the fly. Also, I'd love to be able to define a fleet template. It would let you layout a fleet with its task forces, tactics, formations, and ships in each task force. Then you could tell a minister "Build this fleet". And it would do it's best to fulfill the order right down to the last fighter, and troops on the transports. |

I quit using ministers a long time ago in SEIV. I may have to revisit that given some of the click intensive aspects of SEV.

Re: One thing I\'d love... ok maybe two or three th
In SE4 I never used ministers. I enjoyed the challenge of note taking to keep planets on focus and it never seemed too intensive to me. Now with all the clicking I have started looking at the ministers and have wondered if they can be moded, I have even jotted down a note or two on what I would want it to focus on. I hope all of this gets sorted; I really just don’t trust the AI to do my job.

Re: One thing I\'d love... ok maybe two or three th
I love setting up more of a SimEmpire than wringing every last ounce of production out in a micromanagementfest. I rarely play other people and just like to see what kind of system I can build, and how efficient I can make running my empire.
I liked in SEIV defining my territory on the strategic map (not sure if you can do that in SEV or not yet) and see automated minelayers running around seeding my borders. Some other things I like it to do: - Fighter Production - Satellite Production - Weapon Platform Production - Troop Production - Robominer Ship production/placement - Move population from heavily populated worlds to relatively empty worlds I like to use my human brain cycles on things I like to do like: what to research, ship design, combat, and which new systems to expand into. I know most like the micromanagement side of the game, so that probably leaves me in the minority. I'm a programmer by trade so I like to script things to do the work for me hehe. At least the repetitive things anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif. Maybe my best way to handle this is to just mod the ministers. |

Sim Empire? Heh, maybe you'd like MOO3 - no offense intended given the general opinion of MOO3 around here http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: One thing I\'d love... ok maybe two or three th
The only thing I think of when I think of MOO3 is "steaming pile of feces".
What I love about SE is that you can toggle things on and off, and rewrite the scripting if you don't like it. What I also love is that you also CAN automate some of the drudge so you avoid a click fest should you choose. |
