patching, then taking your MP turn?
I screwed up. In a MP game I am in...I think I really screwed it up.
When I found out about the patch, I quickly downloaded and applied. Then, a little later, I got an email that our MP game had went to the next turn. I log in quickly, and do my turn, click End Turn....and crash, due to the two versions (I am assuming). Now the server is down....and I think I screwed up the game. I am really hoping not, but I am thinking I did. What happens now? What happens (officially) when someone does what I did? Is it the end of the (game)world? Chris |
Re: patching, then taking your MP turn?
You should never play your turn with the new patch. You can only play your turn with the new patch once the host has upgraded to the new patch.
However, this does not stop you from downloading the new patch and playing against the AI with it. You just after copy your existing exe file to somewhere else, rename it dom301 for example. Install patch, then copy the dom301.exe file back into your dominions folder. You will then by double clicking on the correct exe file be able to play dom3 v3.00, v3.01 or v3.04 etc... whenever you want. As far permanently ending the MP game your in, no the host should be able to recover it. So long as they have sufficient technical knowledge. |

Actually the host can just take down the game, upgrade, then restart the game. Your turn file will already be uploaded. (Ive had this happen many times) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
