port Geo\'s (Map) Balance Mod to SE5
1 Attachment(s)
I am trying to port Geo's (Map) Balance Mod to SE5. I attached the mod. It looks OK for the most part besides planets sometimes being outside the system and getting errors when clicking on other systems(I'm guessing its the same problem). Is this because of the moons?
Edit I was using Ring 12 which isn't always inside. I attached a new version using Rings 4,5,6,7,8. |

I think that's fixed in the next patch.

Cool!
BTW I'm not trying to take over the mod just help it along. Anyhow Fyron is now telling me this was a huge waste of time. It would seem the chance type at the top of the file balances things (it would seem to be broke though). We still need to remove the crap systems though. |

I still think that all moons should be in the same hex as the planet they orbit. Less clutter on the map... and will be included in any combat with its planet...

Re: port Geo\'s (Map) Balance Mod to SE5
It's easy to mod your game files to do that, and it shouldn't affect MP savegame compatibility (at least, it did not in SE4 and there is no reason to do so in SE5). Maybe this KOTH balance mod could have quadrant options with the moons in the same hexes as their base planets?
Note that the enforced type/atm balancing done by the map generation is overall map balance, not per-system. Though, it seems to be broken currently... |

Is there any update to this? Does this do anything besides allow planets to have "moons"?

Re: port Geo\'s (Map) Balance Mod to SE5
Planets already have moons in stock. They are in orbitals around the planets, rather than the same sector. If you prefer them in the same sector, just change the "Offset X Ring Y" positions in the three Standard # system types (systemtypes.txt) to "Same As X".
Make sure to do this in a mod folder, rather than the stock data files. The easiest way is to just create a Data folder in the Standard SE5 "mod" in GameTypes.txt, copy systemtypes.txt in there, and make your changes. |
