Ermor AE/LE strat-questions

Ave Lictors!

There's been a few Ermor questions Ive thought about for a while, and this is the place to share em, or so I've heard.

1. Who should be the Prophet?

2. Are Lictors worth getting?

3. Does the priest-skill affect number of reanimation-skill spawns?

4. Does the death-magic "number" affect the number of reanimation-spell spawns?

5. OT, but important: What is the roleplaying reason for resources? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Thanks in advance!

Braaaaaaaaaaaaains...

Prophet:
If you want a fun, skilled, immortal prophet -- wait for Etimmu the Wraith Lord and prophetize him. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif He's one of the better national heroes in the game, considering he comes with d3/h2, immortality, etherealness, equipment, nice stats, and all but the foot slots (being mounted).

If you don't want to wait or wish to maximize holy, consider an Archbishop.

Lictors:
Might be nice if you've built the laurels to make summoning more efficient. It's possible to reanimate them with an H4 (ex Archbishop prophet), if memory serves.

Can't go underwater, 'tho.

Eventually, wights -- a step up from lictors -- can be summoned in decent numbers at a time via Legion of Wights.

Reanimation:
Priest skill affects both number and type. You need a certain level to reanimate longdead horse, for instance. Death magic is irrelevant to reanimation. Helps for summons, 'tho.

Resources:
Think ores, metals, wood, that sort of thing. if you're in the tundra, it's tough to get enough metal to make heavy armor.

Re: Ermor AE/LE strat-questions

EDIT: Apparently I wasn't fast enough in writing this message :|
1) I'd probably have the Holy-3 UberBishop as prophet, because then he gets to reanimate lictors :O (atleast it was that way in dom2, haven't tried this in dom3)
EDIT: And how could I forget about Etimmu. If you have any sort of bless, give it to etimmu. He is the true destroyer of worlds.
2) If they are similar to what they were in dom2, then they are pretty good, especially when you reanimate them for free http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Try and get a few and see how things go and decide for yourself, that's the best strategy in figuring dominions out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
3) Holy skill affects the amount of spawns generated by the Reanimate command. It also allows better spawns.
4) Nope. It does effect summoning spells that specifically say it does.
5) Resources are the resources and man-labor requiered to create equipment for units. What more do you need?

Great, quick answers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Yes, I often turn Etimmu into a prophet. Real scary guy, that Timmy...

But theres one more thing. Did the last patch lower the reanimation priest-skill requirement? Because I dont remember acolytes reanimating longdeads...a most interesting turn of events!

Maybe, they were pretty useless after a while other than collecting troops. I like to turn an arch-bishop into my prophet for that power of the grave spell (the battlefield wide enchantment with extra attack and movement)

Yeah, everything seems to need one less. probably a bug.

I think it is logically fine since in Dom2 the lowest holy level was holy 2.
So this reanimation priest-skill requirement reduction makes imho sense http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Re: Ermor AE/LE strat-questions

To clarify:
In dom 2, an unholy 5 priest was needed to reanimate one lictor per turn.
In dom3 3.01, and dom3 manual, a holy 4 priest could reanimate one lictor per turn.
In dom3 3.04, a holy 3 priest has the order to reanimate lictor available... but in a quick test I only got 3 lictors in 10 turns.

Re: Ermor AE/LE strat-questions

making an arch bishop your prophet works a lot better since he can then cast Power of the Sepuclure(no idea how to spell the name) which means your entire army just go a lot better, combine this with protections of the Sepuclure and you have an army that will take a lot to stop. Resources means goods produced, so the better armed a troop is the more goods needed to give him his equipment
