OT: The Lost Room (Sci-Fi Miniseries)

Has anyone watched The Lost Room on Sci-Fi the past couple of nights? It is a three part miniseries that started Monday night.

I didn't watch the first episode on Monday as I didn't think I'd be that interested in it. I was sick last night and they reaired the first episode right before the second so I decided to watch it since nothing else was on.

After sitting there for four hours watching both episodes I have to say that I really like it. It was captivating and had a most interesting story line...it centers on a detective who comes into possession of a motel-room key that unlocks the door to a weird parallel world. The room contains a bunch of seemingly ordinary objects that each have a unique power -- and the key is the most powerful object of all. The detective also becomes a suspect when his daughter (Elle Fanning) disappears while in the motel room.

The final episode is airing tonight and I am interested in seeing how it turns out.

If you have watched it, what is your opinion on the show?

Edit: This was posted in the SEIV forum which doesn't generate as much traffic. I deleted that post and moved it to the SEV forum for most visibility.

I watched it and rather enjoyed it as well myself. Altho I did miss a little while coding for an XML project...

I thought it was good enough to expand from the mini-series to a full series. Unless of course they kill off the story. Hopefully they'll leave an open ending.

It was quite an interesting concept. I related it to Heinlen's "Number of the Beast" except the characters in "Lost Room" were a lot more interesting. It's been a while since I read it but IIRC the characters in NOTB were quite boring.

I've watched all 3 parts, recorded them too. I enjoyed it and hopefully scifi picks it up for a regular series (hell, even a limited run of 20 episodes would make me happy).

The show did remind me a bit of Friday the 13th the series - just with less murder.

I saw it and loved it. For TV, a surprisingly original concept exceptionally well done. Although some of the characters were stock, many were multi dimensional with good and bad points, flaws, quirks and strengths. The lead character, though no doubt a great father, good cop and good citizen could be ruthless when required. I expected him to cave in several times, but he never gave more than the absolute minumum to accomplish the task and had no qualms about getting rid of a helper when done with him. Very real life.

My only disappointment was the ending. However, if they plan a series for the future, it makes perfect sense.

Yeah, it was a lot like Friday the 13th with better acting and plot from the last bits that I caught. I didn't really get a handle on the powers of the objects though and how they worked, why they related to each other aside from the most obvious ways, etc, but I found the scene where the guy cut his own eyeball out to be especially chilling, without being visually over the top gore. Definitely better than another giant snake marathon.

I was diappointed with the ending, and that can only be rectified by either another mini series run, or a TV series.

There were three episodes of two hours each.

Wenin, I feel much the same as you do. I was slightly disappointed in the ending. I believe they ended the show as they did so that if it was successful they would have room (no pun intended) for a possible TV series or another mini series.
