Modern Russian guilded AFV Ammo

Here an link for 100mm to 115mm ammo for BMP-3, 4, T-55 and T-62.

Claims to be able to take out most Modern AFV.

750-850mm CE penetration is a bit too low for taking out the most modern western MBT with frontal hits in a reliable manner.

Doesn´t the newest BMP-3 ATGM already have HEAT pen 70? So no improvement there? Maybe there´s room for improvement in the T-62 missile though.

How come the russians don´t use or develop top-attack missiles. Or have they done it already?

Looks like the Arkan-based 115mm missile is heavier, I think the previous versions were saboted 100mm missiles.
Anyway there are at least two or three versions of the missiles for each launcher (T-55, T-62, BMP-3, MT-12...), wouldn't that clog the OOBs too much?

As to why they don't develop top-attack missiles, maybe for cost reasons? AFAIK the EFP warhead requires extremely accurate engineering, rare materials and very smart seekers. Apart from the US missiles and mines, I think only Bofors manufactures them in large quantities.

Well, the israeli military industries do make them too, like spike and lahat. Maybe they´re also US supplied somehow... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

The russians are quite good at developing elaborated CE warheads. I doubt that an EFP warhead would pose a significant challange to them. Guidance is probably the
biggest hurdle to overcome when developing a top attack missile.

Ahh but they didn't state that it would need to be a frontal hit.

Regarding EFP, older Kontakt-1/5 ERA proved to be useless against them, providing very lil resistances therefore even a low 600mm penetrating EFP warhead can penetrate modern soviet/russian MBT frontally. Newer Relikt/Nozh ERA provides resistances against EFP warheads.
