Newbie Question (I really mean it!) :D
Gosh it's amazing what passes for newbie questions around here so this will sound like sheer idiocy:
I think this game is incredibly fun and have read the manual but I have had problems with the campaigns and scenarios ending very early and under pretty poor circumstances. Usually I will rack up a number of infantry kills as I crawl through the battlefield and eventually some hidden enemy AT piece will surprise 1 piece of my armor and get lucky and destroy it for which I proceed to pommel him to death. The game immediately ends as does all the fun I was having! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif In one case I actually had a 2-1 men killed ratio and only lost 1 AFV and the game ended with me poised to capture my first victory objective! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I understand there is a built in routine to end the game when the scores become wildly divergent and I haven't read about the "mob" hacks and such so is there a way to disable this, I mean if I'm going to lose ultimately I'd actually like to get to the end of the scenario to find this out so at least I can blow some stuff up and capture some victory locations... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif Thanks in advance for your help, Tiger_Reyth PS I'm eventually looking forward to playing PBEM once I get the "newb kinks" out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |

Re: Newbie Question (I really mean it!) :D
Hmmm, turns remaining....
A novel concept... And (if you don't mind me asking) where do you find this "turns remaining" delimiter?? Tiger_Reyth PS Hmmm maybe this turns remaining thing is a way to stop players from inching their way through and thus making it more challenging because the comp has a better shot at your stuff?? |
Re: Newbie Question (I really mean it!) :D
It is in the info bar at the bottom of the main screen.
You can set the amount of turns during the deploy phase (not in a pre-made scenario though). Once the battle has started, the turns are set. Cheers SGT |
Re: Newbie Question (I really mean it!) :D
"Once the battle has started, the turns are set" Well - almost....... The AI still has the ability to extend game length by 1 or 2 Turns if the opponents are stalemated and the Game will end in a Draw. John |
Re: Newbie Question (I really mean it!) :D
The AI player may exetend the game if it thinks 1 or more V-hexes are "in contention" i.e opfor are elements reasonably close and not in retreat or worse.
It may throw in the towel early, if the AI force is broken, all V-hexes are owned by the human, and no reinforcements are currently waiting off-map. If it is a human-v-human game, the game ends at the specified number of turns. Cheers Andy |
