Joined The SE4 Ranks!

I just ordered SE4. After much debate I broke down and got it. I look forward to playing and being more active in the forums when I receive my full copy. I played the demo to death but 100 turns can take you only so far. I have read the Strat Guide Dubious put together. Any other playing advice you can give a newbie?? I seem to have problems at the start, I not sure which planets to grab and what to research.

Be an Ancient Race until you learn the game -add new empire and it is an option under advanced racial (or play the Eee). Do a profile on this post and select search all my postings. Even though I have over 1000 hours play experience, even I am still learning things, so it DOES take a while. When you have mastered the standard races, try the TDM-Modpack for more of a challenge...

Colonization and research strategy varies a lot depending on your playing style. I myself tend to go for any specials with artifacts I can colonize first, then breathable atmospheres; after that priority depends on what resources I need the most.

I'm not sure my research strategy is good enough to give out as advice. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif I'm still experimenting with it myself.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the
human mind to correlate all of its contents. We live on a placid
island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was
not meant that we should go far. -- HP Lovecraft, "The Call of Cthulhu"
