BCT or ATF?

I have had a go at the BCT, TFW and ATF demos and now I want to try out the full games.
What is the recommendation from other users; should I start with BCT - or go directly to ATF? As far as I can see ATF = BCT + extras?

Hey Shorty,

Here is my opinion. There are a couple of differences.

BCT is Brigade level - ATF is Company to Battalion level.
ATF took the best of BCT and built upon it while changing the scale.

One of the best features of ATF is the ability to install the next game in the series in the same folder and utilize the next iteration of the engine with the scenarios from ATF. You can check this thread under AATF (Air Assault Task Force) http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...o=&fpart=1

This will allow you to utilize the new AATF GUI with the four previous games in the series.

You dont have to overwrite, and you can even do both. You can install each game to its own folder and another install to a "combined" folder and see which you prefer.

Hi Jankee!
Thank you for setting me straight on the differences. I read it that you advice to start of with ATF.
My asumption was based on BCT and ATF demos having the same two scenarios.
I do know of the "on-top" installing - I was just wanting to know if there was any reason to try out BCT before going to the ATF based games?
Can anyone explain me the difference between COLTs and FOs?

A COLT is an FO. But it is a brigade assets (that may be "cut" to a subordinate battalion). It also has the special capabilities of laser designation for precision guided munitions (PGMs) from artillery.
