Save game error

For the past few days I've had some problems with occasionally some savegames contained errors and could not be loaded. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas what causes it?

There have been some problems reported if you save a game and reload it without quitting the game. Is this what happened?
Do a search of the forum for Save Game and see if you can't find the thread for more info on this problem.

Re: Save game error

I looked around and couldn't find a thread dealing with this specific problem, though there were discussions about a similar problem with using saved maps. Sometimes I just get a message saying that the game can't load, other times it tells me that there is an access violation at module such and such that reads at FFFFFF. Now that I've tried running this game some more it appears that the problem doesn't occur randomly, but instead at some point in the game, after turn 114 the game is no longer able to save properly.

Re: Save game error

It could be a simple thing like too many units in space, or a cloaked ship trying to do something it shouldn't; or it could be something else. Try setting all the AI players to human control for turn 114, and see if you still have problems saving. If that fixes the problem, try letting the computer control SOME of the AI's & replay turn 114. Repeat until you can identify a single AI as the culprit. Then, try to figure out what they're doing to cause the error.

Of course, if setting all the AI to human control doesn't help (and if you don't see something strange happen while you're playing the AI turns), send a copy of the Last savegame to Malfador with a description of the problem.
