Moon Tricks

Another use for moons is to quickly train your ships and/or fleets. Choose a planet with 1 or moons and build a ship or fleeting training facility on each. The training stacks for any ships/fleets in orbit. Have a ship training III on each of the two moons and the planet and you receive 9% a turn (the max, don't recall seeing any planets with three moons), cuts down on the time to max out a ship/fleet's training.

If this is true, it's a bug. Get ready for it to disappear in the next patch. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

I played a game back in V1.28 where I had a planet with 5 moons. I had a Dave's mod running back then but I don't think it altered the planet / system setup files.

Is it really a bug? The description for the facility seems to imply it should work that way.

http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...s/confused.gif Huh? What in the description makes you think that the effects should stack? A ship can only have one crew, how would they take three simultaneous training courses? A planet can have multiple climate control or value improvement plants, sure. A planet or its atmosphere is very large and there can be cumulative effects. There is no logical way I can think of that training should have a multiplying effect. I really expect that something will be changed to prevent this now that you have pointed it out.

I agree it's something that needs to be fixed. I'm not sure I would call it a bug as I think it was more of an oversight. The effects of a training facility are limited to one to a planet and I don't think it was realized that with the use of moons that more than facility could end up in the same sector as a ship/fleet each giving its effect as one to a planet. You normally don't think of the moons in the same terms as a planet, yet they have the same abilities in terms of facilities. Would be pretty easy to overlook.

Re: Moon Tricks

Using multiple ship/fleet training facilities in the same sector could be explained as either:
1) due to the multiple facilities, better trainers are available

2) each facility specializes in a different aspect of running a ship, and the crew is split among the various facilities to speed up training.

For fleet training, maybe each facility specializes in a different aspect of combat or fleet operations...
