Rally Hex

I noticed this new feature in version 3.0

How exactly does the "Rally Hex" work?

...and the Retreat hex?

Hi Smersh
It is pretty simple bro.
It is a function to stop your units retreating off the map in a set direction...which is often straight toward the enemy if you are playing a stock scenario where the designer has made the battle N-S rather then W-E.

IIRC you click on the unit (or formation?) and then set a "rally" point for that unit. When they retreat, they will retreat to that hex you have chosen.

try it out, and as always, read the game guide!

Cheers

"Rally Hex" and "Retreat Hex" are the same thing, just different ways of saying it. You can look at them as either / or, one or the other.

From the GG

"These Retreat/Rally hexes can be changed anytime during the game and can be placed anywhere on the map. Please note: These points do not increase the rate at which units rally. The only provide a point which you can have your units retreat towards once they have entered a retreat or rout condition. Units that are in "retreat" mode may hang around that point for a turn or two.Units in route mode will not stop at the points. If they regain normal status they can be brought back into the game."

They were PRIMARILY added to the game for sceanrio designers to solve the problem of "north/ South sceanrios" as SGT noted but they can be used in any type of game

never noticed that, I haven't looked at it closely since Winspmbt came out. I was looking through it today again, after you guys brought it up on this thread.

new features discribed in much more detail. although over-watch hexes are covered to lightly. I still don't completely understand how they should be used.

When in the filter menu, click on a hex in view of your unit. This is now your overwatch hex. Select a radius and this constitutes your overwatch area (centered around the overwatch hex). In other words you can select a specific area to keep under OP watch instead of every hex in range. Don't forget to also set your regular OP range or you'll still fire at everything in range. This way you can set overall range to 15 for example and pick a specific area at range 30 for overwatch and OP fire purposes.
