Ship Sets

Over the last week or so I have been converting many SFC (MOD) files (Ships) into X format so that they can be used in SE V.

I have ran into a problem. I have no idea, know at all, as to how to proceed from this point forward. I don't know what to do as far as setting up a race for use with SE V. I took a look at the EMPIRE files of the game and froze. My God what the hell?

It occurred to me that I don't have the foggiest idea of how to proceed. I don't know if the scaling is correct, how to lay out the ships, what all the files do and if I need them, and if so how do I use them, etc.

I think its time that a tutorial on this is developed, because I am telling you, I am no rocket scientist and there is way to much to do, far above my skill level, to make a ship set for SE V without some help.

There is this thread in the KB but I don't know how much help it will be. I will try to take a look at it later tonight and see if there is anything I can suggest but shipsets are outside of my scope right now. I will volunteer to be a guinea pig if you need a tester.

Now AT you have to write a tutorial on how to convert MOD files to X format... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Last thing I tried, the textures came out backwards...

Re: Ship Sets

I use two programs at the moment. Milkshake to convert the MOD to Light Wave 6, then Ultimate Unwrap 3d to convert the files from Light wave 6 to X format. I paid for Unwrap 3d but am having issues with it not opening MOD files like it did before I purchased it. Otherwise I would just be using Unwrap3d to do the whole process. Its really an inexpensive program at only $50.00 US.

By convert I mean Import / Export. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif (There are many files that Milkshape cannot open and often will crash when trying.)

Re: Ship Sets

Maybe you need to reinstall UU3d and the plugin for MOD....
