Trampling Elephants build?

I heard here about a build that consists mostly of Elephants with boots of the Behemoth. Now that sounds to me like hell of fun and I wish to try it.

Sincd i'm kinda new to the game (Playing only for 2 weeks), i want to know with which nation I should do it (Which of them, got elephants O_O), and how can I equip those normal units with those boots? (Commanders only no?).

Thanks for whoever replies.

most elephants already trample, the usual tactic is to go half elephants, half high morale troops, and just set them free...

i dunno about casting gift of reason on one and giving it boots. It likely won't have the slots for it.

but if you want to toy with elephants caelum and arcosephale have them in various eras.

So which creature is best to equip with Boots of Behemoth?

anything thats size 5 or 6, preferably also with 3 death, because the incredible drain in stamina will need to be counter acted - and the best way i've found is soul vortex. (alteration 6)

I suppose Tartarians are the best : size 6 non-fatiguing undead. I had a lot of fun with a PoD also, as it flies naturally !
There's no point putting boots on Elephants or Behemoths, they already have Trample ability. Boots of Flying would be great though !

Other big units (Titan-size pretenders, Jotun leaders...) are good candidates but beware the fatigue effects, and as tramplers don't use their weapons it's better to give them 2 shields to help defense.

The bigger the trampling unit is in comparison to the unit that is to be trampled, the easier it is to trample.
So, although trying to trample chariots with elephants is possible, it is not as effective as - let's say - trying to trample hoburgs with them. Just a parenthesis. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'd rather give a Tartarian a decent weapon or use him as a mage -- especially the 3/2/2s.

One might wonder if a size 4 trampler or so is better than a size 6; he'll use weapons against size 4+ monsters where it might actually be preferred to stomping.

I like Atlantian EA Basalt Kings for trampling. Size 5, sacred, fully equippable, and ready to go for bladewind-script them to cast bladewind 5 times and then have them attack. They should run wild over most armies. Atlantis is good for forging too, so try to equip your Kings with heavy armor. Earth bless 10 is ideal for this strategy.

Bladewind 5 times and then trample? Or then fall over?
Are they 0 fatigue? Even with an Earth bless that's a lot of spell-casting fatigue to start with.
