Happiness and treaties

As you all know treaties affect the happiness of your population according to the happiness type you chose in the game setting. If you have peaceful type your population gets angry about wars and happy about trade-partnership treaties. If you have bloodthirsty it's just the opposite and neutral get angry about all treaties. This affects the population of the entire empire and you don't get any message about it! So if you are not careful you may end up with almost all colonies suddenly rioting.
Now for the treaties of trade alliance to partnership it seems no matter if you propose the treaty or accept it. It affects both empires. This seems not to be the case for the war declaration. You may declare war without change of the happiness in your population. But if you receive war declarations it influences the happiness. For bloodthirsty races it is therefore much better, that they don't declare war themselfes but let other empires declare war on them!

Q: When he went, had you gone and had she, if she wanted to and were able, for the time being excluding all the restraints on her not to go, gone also, would he have brought you, meaning you and she, with him to the station?

A: Objection. That question should be taken out and shot.

Re: Happiness and treaties

hey, but if that's true, then there could never be a war with the Phong, since the never declare war on anyone, right?
well, not a war with your peoples permission..

Re: Happiness and treaties

If you try really hard, you could probably get them mad enough to declare war.

Of course, you could always do an Intel op, and send a fake message, getting them to declare war on you http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

Woah, that could probably be exploited. Keep sending Intel ops to your enemy, getting him to declare war multiple times... If you're a bloodthirsty race, your people will go Jubilant!

You apparently cannot declare war, if you are already at war! (I thought of that trick myself). http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif
As for if it is a bug or not I am not so sure: I think that would be a too easy method to improve the happiness of your entire empire if you choose the bloodthirsty happiness type and then declare war every other turn on an empire (and after 1-2 years offer an Non-Aggression treaty, which will not harm you, and then begin again!).

You must have misheard me.

You have to get the AI to declare war in order to make your people happier, and they are capable of issuing multiple declarations of war, especially if it is caused by intel ops. In one of my games, the AIs are really pumping out the comm mimicks, and I've recieved a declaration of war from every AI every few turns for the Last decade http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...s/rolleyes.gif.

Think of it as propaganda, you send out fake Messages, and get nasty Messages back, showing how evil the aliens are http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif.

I don't think this could be exploited, since it is quite expensive to use a comm mimick to boost happiness http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

Re: Happiness and treaties

I have a question on happiness and treaties myself. Some races in my game ( Abbidon, Amonkrie, Drushocka, Sallegra ) have good race relations with me when no treaty. But when I make a treaty with them their relation falls to Murderous. Is that related to their race happiness in some way ? Their characters :
Abbidon Peaceful Neutral
Amonkrie Peaceful Honorable
Drushocka Peaceful Impulsive
Sallegra Peaceful Neutral

Most AIs get mad at the colonies their allies have that the AI could have colonized. They're a bunch of greedy, envious landlubbers, Arrr. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

They don't get envious of enemy colonies unless they're really aggresive.

That doesn't really makes much sense, does it? They want their friends stuff but not their enemies? I'll never understand the little green men...
