Destruction \" Abrams \" from RPG-7V hit sideways .

Why it now became impossible?
In WinSPMBT versions 2.5 the tank could be destroyed from RPG-7V.
In Iraq it was. In the first and in the second campaign.

"Why it now became impossible?"

I just destroyed a platoon of Abrams in a test using
RPG-7Vs. Granted, mine were multi-charge while in some OOBs they are not but it is definitively possible.

Excuse. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif
From RPG probably to line tank Abrams sideways.
Has taken advantage of not checked up information.

Question: Why increases HEAT at shooting from RPG-29, RPG-7V?
It is noted 60 HEAT, and actually 63-69.

AFAIK the random number up to Warhead Size parameter is being added to HEAT penetration rating upon impact (note sometimes the HEAT pen is also degraded, sometimes really significantly) - maybe this was the case why the Abrams resisted the shot?

Marek has a good point.
Epoletov_SPR: turn up your message delay in the preferences screen and look for the messages appearing at the bottom of the screen. They're quite informative if you want to know what has actually happened. Personally I have them at the middle setting and it gives you all the time you need to read it.

RPG's have NEVER totaly destroyed an ABRAMS.
What I mean by this is a catostrophic destruction of the tank.
The few that were taken out were immobilized by hits in the engine compartment. A few of these caught fire and burned out, but the crews survived.

How many Abrams have been hit by an RPG-7V? that has double the penetration of the old model RPG-7s used by insurgents and iraqi military in the 90s.

a side or rear hit would seriously damage any modern MBT.

a T-72 has never totally destroyed an Abrams does this mean it can't?

Just a side note, RPG-7/RPG-7V is just the launching tube http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif And PG-7V projectile has only one charge, with armor penetration rating being cited anywhere between 260mm and 360mm of RHA, depending on manufacturer http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

There was at least one well publicized (back then) case where an RPG pierced the side hull armor of the crew compartment and knocked out the tank by disabling several systems. No catastrophic destruction but the tank was disabled and needed depot level repairs. The crew got some wounds as well IIRC albeit nothing life threatening.
