Need help setting up TCP/IP game.
I've read the manual and searched the forum for how to start a TCP/IP game. I'm a little confused.
If I go right to Network->Set Up a Dominions Server, enter the IP/Port info, select an age I wind up at the Waiting for participants screen. So, it seems I must create the game first, as in SP. The manual says to create a game like you would for PBEM. So, I select Create Game, pick a map, select number of opponents, then I'm taken to the create god screen. This doesn't seem right either. What am I missing? I'd like to host a game (my PC is always on anyway) but can't seem to get my arms arount the basics. Thanks. |
Re: Need help setting up TCP/IP game.
You're doing it right, in fact (the first way, that is: Network->Setup a Dominions Server). The Waiting for Participants screen is where you want to end up. Then people need to join the game, and only after people have joined and someone's clicked "Start Game" do you get to set the remaining options.
There are ways to do it a little more cunningly as well, if you want to automate it. |
