Range Question
Until the Filter option I payed little attention to the Y key and setting range.
In my current game I noticed that the displayed range for a unit will change when I target an enemy unit. Example, a bazooka team with a 300m range, I press T to see the first "enemy seen". That enemy is 1000m away. I press T to exit as the unit is out of range for the weapon. Now the display shows range as 1000m for the bazooka. Am I using the T key wrong? Do I need to change the bazooka et al back to the original range? If so, do I use the "max" key or some other way? |
Re: Range Question
If you hover your mouse over a button, there is help text for it in displayed the info window (the one at the top of the screen) - in this case if you hover it over the Target button it says "Select this unit as a target" and if you hover it over the exit button it says "Exit without setting a target".
By pressing the T for TARGET key or the target button you have now made that selected enemy unit the target for the firing unit. So the range will be extended, if necessary to allow fire at it. That is what the explanatory text says the button does, after all. So - use the escape key or that big red exit button on the T key dialogue if you want to exit without setting a target. Re: Range Question
Thanks.
The first time that I used the T to exit was by accident when I intended to use the N key. So it is normal for the unit's range to change. Even if that is "out of range" for it's weapons. I'll have to be more careful. |
