Questions about Computer Virus and Troops

I wanted to confirm that viruses work similarly to the component destroying weapons. Do I need to disable both shields and armor for them to work? Do I then take over the ship or do I just disable it?

If I make troops how do I drop them off on the planet? keeping in mind it's Strategic combat in PBW. Do I just have the fleet attack and the ship will drop them? Do I just set the strategy for the ship to drop troops?

A computer virus simply does damage to only master computer components. It does not do anything fancy.

Troop transports need to have a drop troops strategy in order to actually drop troops.

From the strategy simulator in Stock version it would appear I have to drop both shields and armor for it to even work, what would be the point of doing that if I don't even gain control of the ship??

Does anyone know if Balance Mod fixes this?

From Balance Mod:

Damage Type Name := Only Master Computers
....
Cannot Penetrate Any Kind Of Shields := TRUE
Cannot Penetrate Any Kind Of Armor := FALSE

Just have to lower shields
