Cooperative Projects

I wonder if it'll be possible to have Cooperative Projects go on between empires. For example, a huge research effort where rp's from both empires are combined, or even production. Perhaps joint mining of an asteroid field. Maybe SEVI? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
