PzKpfw IC Armament
 

Hi,

I'm wondering why the main gun of the PzKpfw IC is listed as a
7.9mm EW 141 (weapon slot 16)? I'm pretty sure that the EW 141 was 20mm not 7.9mm. Could this be a typo? Or am I missing something?

Hmm... Further poking about on the internet indicates that the EW 141 is described as 20mm some places, 13mm in others, and I've found one that does call it 7.9mm - apparently using the round from the PzB 38/39 AT rifle.

Anyone know which is correct? And why all the confusion/misinformation?

Probably some source started it by calling it a 20mm weapon and it got copied by others who started referring to each other etc. It's not that strange since the 20mm gun was the smallest AT cannon the germans fielded on tanks and the IC did have an AT weapon. Except that it was more of an antitank rifle type weapon, not a cannon.
