Noob Q\'s on Blood Sacrifice

I've never played Mictlan before, and now I'm just messing around w/ it, and I'm a little confused by the interface for blood sacrifice.

1) If I give the order to "perform blood sacrifice" it seems to leave the number of blood slaves in the possession of that particular priest constant. Does this mean that, in effect, the blood slaves being consumed are being pulled from the general pool?

2) If so, am I correct in concluding that priests will always sacrifice up to their maximum capacity (according to priest level & jade knife, subject to restriction of availability of slaves)?

3) Does the existence/non-existence of a lab affect how this interface works? In other words, I could imagine that the interface is actually designed such that slaves are pulled from the priests, but then autoreplenished - is something like this the case?

TIA,

You are essentially correct.

The priest sacrifices slaves at the temple, then goes to the lab to get more.

Without a lab, you have to supply him manually.

While this is a nice feature, it doesn't remove all the micromanagement. You can't pool blood slaves (from the hunters) without stripping them from the sacrificers as well. You also want to maintain enough slaves in the pool to supply next months sacrifices, or you'll have to manually supply them again.

Actually, as long as you are hunting in provinces with a lab and no sacrificing priest, you can use the 'Z' shortcut to pool slaves into the lab from all commanders in that province. So if you only have a few provinces where all of your hunting is going on, it's almost as good as universal pooling and even better in some respects because you don't need to separately micromanage your combat blood mages and sacrificers again.

True and I do use 'Z', though I thought it only pooled from selected commanders? (I could have sworn I could select the blood hunters and use 'Z' to pool there slaves, while leaving the unselected sacrificers slaves with him. Maybe it does all in the province if none are selected?)

It's certainly better than moving them by hand and even better than pooling all blood slaves. A "Blood hunt to lab" command would be nicer though.

Or having anyone set to sacrifice draw slaves from the lab as needed?

Could be it's only from selected commanders. Haven't paid that much attention. I have only gotten around to playing my second actual game of Dom3 due to the DB project and I have more work cut out with the bugs that will eat into playing time.

I dunno what 'Z' does, but you can still go into your magic resource treasury (F7) and then use the "pool" command next to your blood slaves to strip all blood slaves from commanders that have access to a lab. Unfortunately, I guess that this would strip them from your priests, too, if they are in a province with a lab.

'Z' sends slaves into the laboratory from the currently selected commanders. When playing Mictlan I have my blood hunters in a province in a single control group, so that all that is required to pool their slaves is to click on the relevant message, then press 'Z'. The only issue is when you don't leave enough slaves in your lab at the end of the turn for your sacrificers to grab at the beginning of the next turn.

Of course, I'd really love to be able to automate this process.
