Brangwen-Blind One-Does she do anything?
 

In her description it says she knows what is going on in the kingdom despite being blind. Is that just verbiage, or is she useful in some way?

It's thematic stuff in her description. She's a fairly good mage, that's not sufficient?

She's an Astral mage, which Man does not normally have, IIRC. Even without any other powers, Brangwen would still be valuable for that reason only.

As far as the flavor text goes, you can always use her to cast Astral Window all around the map. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

No. Protection from bad events is a special ability possessed to a varying degree by some monsters. The BF Ulm fortune tellers have a minor (exact percentage unknown) chance of preventing bad events in the province where they are, while Norna from Utgård Jotunheim have 15% and Great Seer of the Deeps has a 75% chance of preventing any given bad event in their current province.
