Blessed troops should get bonus if priest present

It would be nice if blessed troops would get their bonus if they are in the same province as a priest. Eliminating micromanagement should be a goal of games. And it is a pain if your priests do not have divine blessing to keep troops blessed. An alternative would be lowering the divine blessing spell to p1, so that any priest could bless your troops.

I'm not very experienced with the game yet, but it seems to me this would make priest levels irrelevent. Some nations have better priests than others. I think this is represented well with the current game mechanic.

It's little effort to have a priest cast bless several times. After all, the battle mages need to be scripted too.

Micromanagement should be cut down in dom3, yes. But this doesn't seem to be a very good way of doing it. If you really want to implement this though it's very easy to make a mod that will do the job. Actually it would take even someone totally new to mods about 5 minutes to make. Less maybe.

What is so difficult to script one priest with 'bless, bless, bless, spells' and copy this script to all the other
priests? Is just using a shortkey. There is micromangement in the game but scripting bless isn't much responsible for it.

I'd be happy enough if Sermon of Courage would be lowered to be a H1 spell, so that my Ulmish infantry doesn't route as fast in battle... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

But I understand why it is done as it is now. You can get a H3 priest for every nation by assigning a prophet, so you have Divine Bless for at least one army.

Isnt bless one of the things that an unscripted priest does anyway? Seems like I see it alot even when I dont script them. So basically it would be the same as "automatic" except that you arent slipping in a free action.

Getting lots of troops blessed without Divine Bless is a hassle. You need more than one priest and even then some may not get blessed.

Divine bless is that level so that only some nations have access to it outside their prophet.

Blessing only has a range of 10 also, and it would not make high level priests less useful. They still have smite and fanaticism. Smite is the key priest spell in any event. If you think about it, a priest would bless his troops before battle any way, not during the fight.

if you want your blessed troops to start as far to front as possible, and have priests out of arrow range, then you explain to me how you can guarantee that your troops will get blessed with level 1 or 2 priests?

I also think if your god is in the province, the troops should be blessed automatically as well. I mean how much more blessed can you get then being in the presence of your god?

I agree about the pretender having insta-divine bless, but smite is not the key priest spell...

clearly divine blessing is, otherwise you'd be asking for smite to be lowered to P1 instead of divine blessing. (since it is key, right?)
