even maps

Since other people are getting some things created (thank you thank you thank you) I will dig this up from my projects list.

I was going to create something using ImageMagick which would take a small map and turn it into a larger map by flip-flopping it a few times. Basically creating a "fair" map where all 4 quadrants were an exact mirror of each other. Even if it used a 100 province map done by Dom3 it would be useable?

Im afraid that my long list of projects that I dig up to keep things hopping whenever the forum slows down is full of many things Id rather do than this. But if someone wants to whip this out then I am SURE that the blitzers, IRCers, and Ladder addicts will sing your praise.

You might also try to iron out some of the other randoms of the game. Such as an option to generate all the poptypes so that they also mirror. Or even remove all poptypes from the map. (and sites? not sure, you would have to ask them)

Re: even maps

I've done this a couple of times - the problem is, the maps look *ugly*, because there are a lot of non-symmetrical sprites (like those little crystals, and the ). Now, if you added an option to do this to a RMG and *then* add sprites after it was done (which ought to be possible with Paradox' RMG) that would be much preferable.

I could also write a trivial script to do the rotations as a post-processing step, of course - but that seems silly when you could built it into the RMG.

Making the sites "fair" (by making them match) is silly unless all four positions play the same nation; since if the joint mix of sites favors one site type over another....
