What is wrong with the Net today?!?
 

Did somebody launch a new worm for April Fools' Day? All day I have not been able to load more than two or three pages in a row without my dialup connection dropping.

(Anybody who suggests getting broadband will be pointedly ignored, at best. I suspect the phone company of deliberately letting the land lines deteriorate to force people onto broadband and wireless.)

OK, so the problem apparently is not the Net, but an intermittent fault in my phone line. The phone company can't find a problem remotely, and claim they'll send a tech out Friday. They've lied to me before.
