Re: A bit of research required....
From Soviet/Russian weapons since WW2 by Yefim Gordon:
The S-5 is spun around it's axis at 750 RPM for stability; and the motor burns 1.1 seconds, during a burn length of 300m The S-5K (originally KARS-57) and S-5K1 are AP rockets capable of burning through armor plate up to 130mm thick. Specs wise, the S-5K1 is a 57mm calibre rocket 0.83 m long, with a launch weight of 3.64 kg and a warhead weight of 1.1 kg, and a "kill" range of 2 kilometers. If you ever wanted to know even more... The S-5KO is a combined fragmentation/AP warhead, capable of creating up to 220 fragments in addition to the burnination. The S-5KP and S-5KPB differ from the previous models in having a piezoelectric fuze instead of a mechanically actuated impact fuze. |
