sudden appearance of castle -- bug?
 

I am hosting a game and one of the players who is fighting A.I. controlled Ulm (early era) reports that Ulm was able to build a Peg Castle in a province they took over this turn. Ulm was able to move into his province, defeat his army and construct a Peg fortress in one turn.

Is this a bug? I once was playing and a fortress appeared in a province I owned. I think it was a very lucky random event. But, on the same turn you conquer a province??

Random events happen before movement battles, so if it was a random event, it wasn't handled properly. Otherwise Ulm should be besieging your friend's castle. But the castle event would show up in the messages before the battle in any case.

Building castles happens after movement battles, so I don't think it's possible that your friend finished constructing the castle somehow on that turn either (unless he was constructing it with a stealthy unit for some reason, if that's even possible, and there was 1 turn of construction left).

Sounds like a bug to me.

Actually, let me clarify: he was attacked by Ulm. The turn Ulm took the province from my friend, they also built a castle. If building happens after movement, I suppose that this could happen by chance. BUT: we re-ran the host, and the same thing happened again.

Is there somewhere I can report this to Illwinter/Shrapenel?

Well if you mention it in the bug discussion thread it will get on the shortlist and Illwinter looks at that for fixes.

if it is a random event they'll get it on their message screen even if they lost the province. if not then it certainly sounds buggy.

Not enough information to make a proper shortlist entry. If you have the turn files from that turn, send them to Illwinter or post them here so they can be looked at.

it seems a peg castle comes along with the site "castle arcanum" if they had a means of uncovering it that turn (like with strands of arcane power) then its not unusual.
