Masking
This is a message I've been forwarded. It may be useful for race styles creators / graphic modders.
I've been finding that some masking errors appeared in some systems and didn't in some others. Here's why: From: Malfador Machinations <malfador@malfador.com <mailto:malfador@malfador.com>> To: Pablo Belluscio Date: Lunes 11 de Junio de 2001 05:15 p.m. Subject: Re: a bug? report. | |It all depends on the color depth of the target system. If the system is |at 32 bit color, your values will work fine. If its running 16 bit color, |your rgb values will essentially be zero, and will mask. | |Aaron | | | |On Mon, 11 Jun 2001, Pablo Belluscio wrote: | |> Aaron, |> I have made a new shipset (called Nostropholo) with 3DS Max R3. I set the darkest shadows to be RGB(1,1,1). In the Style Tester -and in the game- it masks perfectly in my computer, but not in other's. When I use shadows RGB(10,10,10), these are masked ok in every system. |> I am telling you this so that you know, and also if you know the reason please let me know me. |> |> Thanks, |> |> Pablo Belluscio |> [This message has been edited by Andrés Lescano (edited 20 June 2001).] |
Re: Masking
Andrés, it could be a good idea to edit out that Pablo guys email adress so he won't get a bunch of spam. There are nasty little crawlers running around the web collecting email adresses from Posts on forums and newsGroups which are then used in spam mailing lists.
Aside from that, thanks for the info. I'm sure it will be useful to all the race style makers out there. |
