What does the \"TerritoryName (47)\" number mean?
There's a number next to the territory names, even for unexplored territories. What does this number measure?

As far as i know its just an index for that province. You can type # to find a certain province (by its index).

You use that number for spells. It is because some provinces can have the same name, but all province numbers are unique.

It's also very useful for locating e.g. the province an event takes place in. Print out a reverse directory for your map (such as this http://students.cs.byu.edu/~mdw45/Glory.idx for Glory of the Gods multiplayer) and when a site is discovered in e.g. "Blessed Butte," hit "#" and type 248 and voila! there's your site. No more scanning through the nation-list trying to find the correct province.

It's also very useful when you've hired mercenaries, but forgot to pay attention to which province you did it in.

Re: What does the \"TerritoryName (47)\" number mea
It's usefull for diplomacy in MP
"Give me 47 and I let you in 52". In MP you can ask to an ally to cast a nasty spell you don't have on the specific province of your choice. Since your ally may not read its name, the only way is give the number. |
Re: What does the \"TerritoryName (47)\" number mea
it is the id number for the province. they are numbered according to thier position on the map, starting in the bottom left corner and then going across the map. when the edge is hit, go back to the left and up one pixel. everytime you hit a province center, increase the id number. so province number 47 would indicate the 47th province encountered this way.
