Screen Captures

In a numbe rof Posts I have noticed screen shots of players' se 4 screens. I have a standard PC with MS Window 95, etc. Is there a way I can capture screens as well. There is a "print screen" button, but it seems to do nothing. Nor does shift-Prt Scn. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

1. You can take a screenshot in any windows program (that I know of) by pressing Alt-Print Screen.

2. Open up MS Paint.

3. Press Ctrl-V to paste the screen capture. Hack up the image as you please and save.

Jen, let me amend that a bit, please.

PrintScreen by itself will capture the whole screen to clipboard.

The Alt-Printscreen function will capture only the active window.

Once you have your capture in your clipboard buffer, you can paste it into any graphics program. MSPaint will work, granted, but it limits you to saving in the rather bulky .BMP format.

Dunno what Version of Windows you're using Possum, but the Version of Paint I have saves in .gif, jpegs, etc as well as bmps.

I'm running the final Version of Win98

I just looked at MSPaint right now, and It will save in 4 types of BMP, and also in GIF, but no JPG's.

To be honest, the GIF was a surprise to me...

And, of course, if you want to save bandwidth, you should grab a program that'll convert your graphics to .png. I recommend saving as a bitmap (best quality available, but at the cost of being completely uncompressed), then use bmp2png or somethign similar.

Portable Network Graphics take up averagae of 10% less space, and also won't get Compuserve mad at you...
