Path has chaged-problem

I resently experienced a nasty system jam and lost pretty important files due that.. my fault, I should have taken backups. :)

Well I partitioned my HDD to 2 separate logic discs now, so that if Windows ever crashes again, I wouldn't lose all files. I install all software to D:, C: being solely for Windows and page file.

Winspww2 is now on D:, so not on the same logical disc as Windows is..

I played less than 10 turns PBEM-game with winSPww2 and it worked just fine. I changed nothing. Now I try to load PBEM-files and all I get is this error: Security error - Path has changed! Is it even possible to continue that game now? I have done nothing to my system from the beginning of the game. So this must be a BUG! Help me, this is annoying.

Re: Path has chaged-problem

Secure PBEM games need EXACTLY the same pathway (on the same computer) for their duration. So you'll have to put the game in exactly the same path as it was previously. If I understood your comments correctly, the game was originally on the C: drive and is now on the D: drive. If so, that may be the problem. It's not a bug btw, it's a security feature for PBEM's.

Re: Path has chaged-problem

No, the game was earlier in drive C: but then I formatted my hard disc, partitioned it to new C: and D: and only use C: now for Windows. D: is for installe programs. And I installed fresh copy of winspww2 to D: and it worked for 10 turns of so and now I get the path as changed-problem. I have done nothing since install. If this is not a bug, then what is is?

Re: Path has chaged-problem

I get the "path has changed" message every now and then.

Go back to your opponent's e-mail and extract the files again: this often works. If not, get your opponent to send again, before abandoning the game.
