My large games keep crashing to desktop

It only seems to happen on the extra large maps and only when the world is complicated with many large armies fighting.

No error messages, it just crashes to the desktop.

Anyone else seem this?

Have you tried completely rebooting your machine? Taking it to a complete power-off level and then turning it on (known as a cold boot)

For SP games make sure internet access and anti-virus is disabled for better performance and stability. For MP games make sure everyone is on the same patch level. If possible don't have other programs running in the background at the same time you're playing the game for better game stability.

Just to be sure: you are using version 3.08 right? It fixes a lot of crash bugs.
