HELP! VISTA SUCKS!
I'm having issues downloading the mods here. The download goes well but in extracting it I get told that it couldn't create the files. This is weird because it allowed the Rohan, worthy heroes, and epic heroes mod go through (except I think the epic heroes mod got tweaked somehow because it crashes when I play certain nations.) Is anyone else having issues like this with Vista? My old XP didn't have these problems.

Re: HELP! VISTA SUCKS!
WinXP enforced more ownership rules than Win95 did. Vista enforces even more than WinXP did. Its "for your own good" (beyond user-friendly comes user-obnoxious). Im afraid that I dont remember the fix, but thats the reason.

Re: HELP! VISTA SUCKS!
Yeah, I wouldn't be running it except it was the nicest laptop for the price. Apparently whenever Dell gets a returned computer for scratches and dents and stuff they put Vista on it. And apparently Windows doesn't like it when people revert it to an older version.
So has anyone else dealt with this yet? |

Yes. Format Disk. Install Windows 2000 Professional, or Linux.

Re: HELP! VISTA SUCKS!
I found a reference by Sir_Dr_D that the saved games for purchase/installed Vista is in
C:\Users\{profile name}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\dominions3\savedgames The actual game directory is protected admin territory and each users files are in a different directory such as was mentioned. So.. (Im just guessing) that the mods maybe should be in C:\Users\{profile name}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\dominions3\mods That makes sense to me because I have pretty much the same security (and headaches) on linux and 2k. Vista is just trying to enforce the new security standards of splitting admin for the program, and user files for the data. |
