Map: Ringworm

Lord of the Ringworm
--- One ring to fund them all, One ring to find them, One ring to hide them all, One ring to tire them, One ring to reach them all, and in the darkness bind them. -- 6 LAND players, 15 provinces per player (91 land provinces, 0 water) 7 Victory points. Control the center to win. --- I saw a post in the Perpetuality thread that was very similar to a project which I had started ages ago and prompted me to finish it. To quote LoloMo's post: Quote:
WARNING: This is a land only map with a six player limit! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/Penguin.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/Penguin.gif |

Re: Map: Ringworm
Yes, this is exactly what I had in mind! Before you can reach any other nation, you have to fight towards the center. If you combine this map with super tough special provinces from the RandomGen for every province, plus easy research and high gem sites, you can reduce the power of diplomacy in the beginning, and also allow non-bless and non-awake pretender strats to be viable.
A mod would have to be made to make all teleportation, cloud trapeze spells, and the like to be level 9 spells or so. And also take out the flying ship artifact. For a larger number of players, the provinces per player would have to be reduced to something like 5 per player, so that the end game could still be played out without too much micromanagement. |
Re: Map: Ringworm
Beautiful, I can't wait to try it out.

Re: Map: Ringworm
Liking it, 75% gold/75% production, indy 5, sites 75, easy research, vs 5 impossible AI, starting provinces 3, is very fun. 70% randomized |
Re: Map: Ringworm
Looks good. Next step is to make it huge to make it perpetuality-compatible http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Map: Ringworm
Been playing it a bit, and I still like it. Definitely a king of the hill type game, very very difficult to hold your line and have the resources to attack someones land without getting cut off. Everyone's main armies are bouncing around the middle which is a good time. I think if it was expanded it would be fun to have 2 nations start per spoke, then they have to decide to ally and rush to the middle or knock each other out first. Also think it would be cool to have the middle 7 provinces definitely randomized. Kept themed but with huge GANs with lots of troop/leader randomizations for replay. For instance a list of 20 leaders with @6 or something, 20 groups of troops with @6, item lists, etc. Liking it, but having difficulties actually winning with self imposed limitations. (no SCs beyond my starting epic hero, if the hero dies I can summon 1 more till I can mummy him, no const beyond lvl 4). |

Thanks for the positive feedback folks! Glad you are enjoying it. I have enjoyed a couple of quick games on it myself. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif |
Re: Map: Ringworm
Yup, and for a less annoying game get rid of teleport spells as mentioned and to save real annoyance get rid of remote summoning spells... gawd this most recent game is annoying. Everyone push to the front! Except you guys, you have to clean out the crap summons that can beat 20 jotunheim PD somehow. Might as well stay up there, pythium is having a field day. |
Re: Map: Ringworm
An idea for an easier perpetuality sized Ringworm would be just 10 of those Ringworms, and then connect each of the Ringworm centers to an eleventh, smaller Ringworm. And stack all those water nations into one Ring hehehe.
That would make 60 nations. Hmmm, I guess we can drop LA Rlyeh and LA Ermor into a twelfth tiny Ringworm by their twosomes wahahahahahaha. |
