Short Name in VehicleSize.txt?
 

Does anyone know if (and where) Short Name in VehicleSize.txt ever actually gets used?

It does get used, but I forget exactly where... might be the combat summaries?

Thanks Ed. The combat summaries show the Code for the vehicle size (LC, CR, BC, etc.) but not the Short Name. In unmodded, I think all the Name and Short Names are the same, but I'm trying to see if there's anywhere a difference shows up, and so far everything seems to use Name but never Short Name. (I had hoped it'd be used when reporting to enemy players, but not.)

I thought it used it somewhere because I remember seeing things like "Sm. Wp. Platform" appearing, when the full name is "Small Weapons Platform"... I just don't remember which dialogs use it...

I think it's in the Ship Design screen. When you are selecting a hull/unit size.

No, it's not there either - that uses the full Name string. I still haven't found where it gets used. I'm only looking for ships, BTW - Ed might be right that it gets used for units in cargo, which I wouldn't have seen in my scans so far. I think I've answered my main question for my current purpose, so I've stopped my questing for the answer, but if anyone happens to know the full answer, I'd still like to know.
