Generated Maps, Labels, and Max ZoomOut
Hello Guys, I am not a frequent poster but I am encountering a problem which is forcing me to bring to your attention. I hope you can help. It seems that when I design scenario maps from generated maps, I am unable to see map labels at maximum zoom out in higher resolution settings. The only way I can see the text in all quadrants of the map is by lowering the game res settings to the lowest setting (640 x 480). Windoed mode or full screen mode don't seem to have any effect on the issue. I've been able to reproduce this on multiple computers. Adjusting the GDI/DirectX settings doesn't make a difference. This probably isn't a huge deal, but being able to see text at max zoom is a nice thing to have, especially on larger maps. Any suggestions? Thanks, Christian |

Which higher resolution settings are you having trouble with and what size are the maps. Don |
Re: Generated Maps, Labels, and Max ZoomOut
Don,
Thanks for the quick response! I'm noticing the issue at 1600 x 1280 where no text shows at maximum zoom-out. This is generally the resolution I play and edit at. My map is 60 x 90 in size. I am able to see more and more of the text strings at max zoom out as I drop resolution levels. Finally, by the time I reach 640 x 480 I am able to all text strings at max zoom out. Code:

The issue seems to appear only at maximum zoom using generated maps. Maps created from scratch do not seem to have this issue. I can send you the map if you would like to see for yourself. Let me know if you need it. Thanks Christian |
Re: Generated Maps, Labels, and Max ZoomOut
My preliminary test showed it happening only on smaller maps and 60x60 was the cut off point I found. Above that the text stayed on the map on maximum zoom out but under 70 it disapeared and that was with a map made in the game editor. We'll look into it in more detail in the fall Don |
