AI States

Is there any way to tell (other than guessing) what 'state' an AI is in?(ie, exploration, defense, attack, infastructure etc.)

If not, I would dearly like a description on screen when the ministers are engaged for AI state, this would help modding greatly.

Also, how does the AI switch states?? Will it be in the middle of infastructure, be attacked and then respond to switching to defense mode? Or will it finish all the orders in 'infastructure' and then move on to 'defense'?

"The Empress took your name away," said Chance.
Owen smiled coldly. "It wasn't hers to take. I'm a Deathstalker until I die. And we never forget a slight or an enemy." -Owen Deathstalker.

I believe that only Aaron could answer your questions...

No - only by knowing what they are supposed to be doing in an individual state (i.e. building certain items, etc.)

If not, I would dearly like a description on screen when the ministers are engaged for AI state, this would help modding greatly.

I asked MM about this back in Jan/Feb via e-mail b/c I thought it would greatly help modders create scripts - his reply was that players could then cheat somehow.

One of the great mysteries in life. . .

"Look, the AI is in Infrastructure mode! Now is the time to launch our great offensive!"

Yeah, like I can really see that happening.

The best way I see to have this implemented is when you turn on your OWN ministers a description is put on top of the main system map that says what state the AI is in, this would not allow cheating as only you can see your own state, no one else could (although having the ability to toggle it like 'see all scores' could be useful for modding as well).

maybe it was a hint that there is another secret cheat code! <ctrl> + <shift> + "showstate" in the diplomacy screen might just print out the AIs current state! and AI modder support has been built in all along without us knowing it!

or maybe not. ill go back to my corner now.
