Hello! (and a question)
Hi! I have been playing on my own, and just was told that that there is a great player to player community here.
I have a question about magic resistance. I have read the book, and I just want to see whether I understand. We have a level 1 holy mage, and a magic resistance 12 undead. The spell is Banishment, a level 1 spell, so the mage gets no bonus from level. Now he rolls two dice, with repeated rolls on 6, and has to beat the undead's dice by two or more. Plus two because a tie is won by mage. Now the mage is level 4 - my prophet. He gets a 3/2 bonus because he exceeds the spell level by three. The bonus is rounded to 2, because attacker always benefits from rounding. Now the mage wins even if his dice match the undead's dice. Is my thinking correct? Is there a table that lists chances to beat a dice sum with 1, 2, 3, etc? |
Re: Hello! (and a question)
Hello! Yep, there is indeed a very good and friendly community here, and lots of MP games going on.
I think all your reasoning is correct, except that the +3/2 is rounded down to +1, because penetration bonuses are rounded down as I understand it. As for the table - yep, and it's very useful - see page 5 of the manual. |
