How do i figure how much a unit and a commander is costing me upkeep wise.. Sacred and non Sacred?

You pay 1 gold in upkeep for each 15 gold worth of normal units that you have.

You pay 1 gold in upkeep for each 30 gold worth of sacred units you have.

Most summons do not cost upkeep. Some do. It can be difficult to tell. I believe Edi's database has the "cost" for a unit even if it isn't recruitable anywhere. This can become important for some weird situations like LA Ry'leh's freespawn apparently have a gold upkeep.

One thing that's very important to understand is that the game adds up the cost of all the different types of units. So, for example, if you only have a single unit in your entire empire. If that unit costs 5 gold, and is nonsacred that single unit will cost you 1 gold in upkeep. HOWEVER, if you build another non-sacred unit that costs 9 gold or less, you will still be in the "1 gold" upkeep bracket.
