Can a system have more than one TYPE?

Can a ship's system have more than one TYPE in it's DATA? For example, be both a shield and computer?

I tried to test it out before posting here, but all i could tell was that swiss-army-system _was_ behaving as a cloaker, and was _not_ behaving as a sensor.

It really felt like it was _maybe_ behaving as a repairbot, but it's hard to say for certain on a Terran vessel.

And I was blasted out of the sky by the Kawangi so fast I didn't think to look if it was working as a shield or not. (Funny thing that, testing new items and stumble across the Kawangi unexpectedly pre-nova as my first and only battle)

Is there a limit to how many TYPEs a system can have?
Does it only keep the last TYPE in it's DATA, or does it use some number or all of them?
Can you have something be both a drive and a thruster? A shield and a thruster? A weapon and a shield? etc?

Anybody tried any of this?

Re: Can a system have more than one TYPE?

Further experimentation _strongly_ suggests that if you give a sy_system more than one TYPE entry, it only uses the last TYPE entry (the one furthest down the list in it's DATA) and ignores the other entries entirely.

(I changed the order of my TYPE cloaker and TYPE sensor entries, and suddenly it could no longer cloak but did start telling me where enemy ships were. Also paid attention at start of battle and could tell I had no shield at any time.)

Yeah, this made me sad. In Strange Adventures, you had numbers, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, etc. which described the function of the items. So if you labelled something as 23, it would have whatever properties 1, 2, 4, and 16 corresponded to. This made it possible to make hard-to-catch animals that were also shields.

Correct, an item can only be of one type (and have one DATA block)... You can't fit a square peg into a round hole, so to speak. Just didn't think this would be useful at the time.
