Google has to make money somehow so why not sell the information they collect about peoples habits, emails contents, and such? Its just bid'nis

Ah, no. This isn't data about peoples 'habits, e-mails, contants' and such. It's the actual 'contents' that they may be able to lay claim to.

How worrisome it is largely depends upon how concerned you are that Google will at some point "turn Evil". (Unless you think they already have.)

I didn't see anything that actually said Google claims ownership of files... just hearsay and speculation about marginally ambiguous terms. All they appear to get is the right to reproduce them, which is necessary for them to be able to provide the service in the first place. How can they store and show you your file if you don't grant them any right to do so? "Reproduction" has been scrutinized strangely in numerous court cases over the last few years, so they want some legalese to cut such nonsense off from the get-go. To me, that seems to be all that is going on...

In that article, Google has explicitely & publically stated that they do not claim ownership of the files stored. That would make it tricky for them to later turn round and try and argue that they do in fact own those files and contents in a court of law.

The wording of the disclaimer is such that there is wiggle room.

People keep worrying about google, but fail to realize Yahoo and Microsoft already do this.

Actually, it's more like people worry about Google following Microsoft, AOL, and Yahoo's examples.
