Battlefield size

What is the size of the battlefield? I know this was asked but I couldn't find anything on it.

What is the maximum number of units for a battlefield? Just so players know how to prevent a game crash.

Edit: I don't think I have ever tried a 100000 vs 100000 battle. I doubt my comp would allow it.

well in one of our blitz games the six of us agreed to gather all of our armies and all attack the same province to see who would come out on top of the resultant death match. sadly this proved too much for the hosts computer and we never saw this epic battle
