Cold war NATO vs WP has always been my favortite gaming premise. Iīve downloaded the installer but I just have one question: Installing the mod is the only thing I need to do? I was reading at the webpage that I also need to install the custom oobīs but I donīt see any file other from the installer, so?

Regards
Robert

Re: New Cold War 2020 mod version available!

Little technicality here, I'll try to think up a clearer line for the webpage.
"Install the game" is "run the installer you downloaded" all right. No problem here.
When I wrote "intall the custom OOBs", it wasn't about some separate set of OOBs that for some reason wasn't included in the install. It's only that I located the mod's OOBs in a custom OOB folder.
Once you have installed the mod (run the installer), open the game, and in the "utilities" tab of the Game Options screen, click "Manage OOB Sets", pick the custom OOB folder named "ColdWar2020 v0.5", select the OOB files then click "install". The Cold War 2020 mod OOBs are now ready to be used by the game.

This workaround is meant to prevent the installer from deleting root OOBs that may have been modified by the user.

All this is explained in greater lengths in the Readme, but I guess a clearer explanation could be used from the start.

Good game!

Downloaded and working! I love the icons for the MIG39 and SU47. Whatīs about those T95 and T04? Are they entirely fictional? I thought it was the cherny oriol the latest design.

I couldnīt find any decent USA tank for 2020, other than an M1A2" marked as "obsolete MBT", I might be wrong.

Seems like you read my mind, Iīll be having fun with this one for a while. Great effort man! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif

I understand is no problem to pbem with other player having the same mod, is it?

Robert

More or less. My T-95 is based on an early-90s concept which may or may not have led to something IRL. More detail on this one on Vasily Fofanov's page.
The T-04 is indeed very close to what is sometimes known as Cherny Oriol, aka Objekt 640... but have you ever seen a Soviet tank with a nickname, I ask? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Well, look in the Armor tab for anything formation with "MBT" in the name and starting 2004 you should find a suitable replacement for the Abrams... I'm not telling you more, you'll see what it looks like by yourself.
From 2015 all Abramses are NG reserve stocks only.

Regarding all this I'm looking into inserting unit info text files in the next release, that should clarify things a bit.

Should be, as long as you don't mingle with the OOBs on your end.

P.S. the Su-47 icon isn't mine, it's an official one that's been hanging around for a lot of time.

I from game in general would clean Su-47 "Berkut". It is made in one copy and probably never will be serial. It is such "concept car" in the aircraft world.
I on your place would look here here:

Re: New Cold War 2020 mod version available!

If I get rid of the Su-47, what is going to replace the Su-27/30/34 beyond 2010? I just like the design of it, and there was this icon already available. Note that, as with the MiG-39, the production fighter isn't necessarily identical to the concept demonstrator. The S-37 Berkut is only an aerodynamical base, while I had in mind a slightly lighter and less stealthy Su-47. The number 47 is as good as anything else.
Regarding the PAK-FA, I've been thinking about it for a while. I'd indeed need some light fighter to replace my MiG-35 by 2015-2020. For now I was considering something similar to the Sukhoi T-50, maybe smaller, but thanks for the info, I'll see what I can make of it.

I just got to see the M11īs, they look badass like a true succesor of the abrams, nice icon!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Strange sound of those advancing T12`s....what is that? a laser?

Could you tell me please, which are the moded/new scenarios exactly? the campaign I can tell.

Robert

There again I should probably have made that clearer from the start. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Mod scenarios are #200 to 204, next page after the last official ones.

Regarding sounds, don't worry, some of the most high-tech ones sound weird, but I'll give them another go next time around. My sound editor added some awful tin-can effects on its own and I didn't figure it out until too late http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
