Question about victory in generated campaign
Before all, excuse for my bad english.
I have ended some generated campaigns in WinSPMBT. The game gives me some indications about my victory points but I dont' understand what they significate. For example : - north Korea (player)/USA in 2005 : 27 pts in 14 battles - USA (player)/USSR in 1947 : 7 pts in 5 battles (2 for marginal defeats, 5 for draws, 1 for marginal victory). I don't understand this repartition : 1 marginal victory earns less points than 2 marginal defeats ? What is the maximum points reachable in those cases ? How are calculated the victory points for each battle, included the special ones (ie without reinforcement points) ? A lot of questions for a newbie on this forum... Excuse-me for that. I played a lot on the old version of SPMBT. I don't remember i had these problems. Maybe il always lost my campaigns, so I didn't take care about my victory points... Merci de votre aide ! |
Re: Question about victory in generated campaign
@2nd example, you have:
8 battles total including 2 marginal defeats (worth 0 IIRC) 5 draws (worth 1 ea.) 1 marginal victory (worth 2) |
Re: Question about victory in generated campaign
It means that :
- decisive defeat = -1 ? - marginal defeat = 0 - draw = 1 point - marginal victory = 2 points - decisive victory = 3 points ? Maybe a special battle is doubled ? So, a 5 battles campaign has a maximum of 15 victory points ? |
Re: Question about victory in generated campaign
I think 5 battles, max points 15, special battles or not.

Re: Question about victory in generated campaign
Gentlemen,
Does anyone know what exactly "tank heavy" means on the preference screen? Does it refer to a formula, as in 51% of buy points go to armor, or number of formations, or something I haven't thought about? I haven't figured it out in 3 years now, so it's time to ask. Thanks Will |

Choose "Preferences Screen" and then when on that page of the GG, read the "AI Tank Heavy" entry. That should answer your question?. Cheers Andy |
Re: Question about victory in generated campaign
Note: The following remarks apply more to SPWW2 ( I forgot what forum I was on... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ) but it also applies to MBT but not so specifcally for the Japanese or Germans in MBT. Still, the test I suggest can be applied to MBT but perhaps check the USA and Russia instead and double or triple the number of points
It's different for each nation that's why there's no "formula" stated in the GG. "Tank Heavy" for the Japanese isn't as "Tank Heavy" as it is for the Germans. The simple way to see what would be bought one way or the other would be to select a specific number of points then set whatever nation(s) you want to check to computer purchase and human deploy then try six purchases with Tank heavy on and six without and count the number of tanks bought each game. You should see a difference when you check the HQ screen but it will NOT always be the same purchases and sometimes, in the case of nations like Germany that have a more complicated picklist, you may even see cases where having tank heavy off may sometimes pick more tanks that when it is set to tank heavy on but on average there will be more but it still won't turn it into a tankfest. If we made it predictable we'd get more complaints Also, really large point game may show up a bigger difference than more modest numbers of points but something like 2500 points would give you, on average in a meeting engagement the German player, maybe 16 tanks set to tank heavy off and 19 when tank heavy is set to on but that's the German OOB. Other tests with other nations may show a difference. Type of battle also affects that number. Don |
Re: Question about victory in generated campaign
That helps. Now I can quit looking for it and get on with playing.
Thanks Will |
