Can you script L2 Mage to Power Up for L3 spell?

Wondering if I can script my E2 Smith's to cast Earthpower to boost up to E3 and then use Bladewind. IIRC, there wasn't an option to cast Bladewind after I scripted Earthpower.

Thanks.

Uh, just try it? If a mage has all the magics that the spell needs at least at level one, the spell appears in the list.

Yes this will work... the spell is greyed out, but it will work.

Yes, it will work. And if speed is urgent, you can script Bladewind to cast the first turn. You'll need gems, though, so its not a great idea, though it can be useful in certain situations

With boosting spells like Earth Power and the option of using gems to boost by one, you can cast spells much higher than your actual level.

For example, you are an Fire 1 mage with a Crystal Shield. On round 0 the Shield casts Power of the Spheres, and now you have Fire 2.

On round 1, you cast Pheonix power, and you are a Fire 3.

On round 2, you cast Flaming Arrows(F4) with an extra gem.

Each time you scripted a greyed out spell, but it showed up in your orders.

Oh, yeah, that reminds me.

Earth 1 mage can cast bladewind. Only because the individual spells _require_ no gems (fatigue < 100), though you'll need spares for this script, they're for the mage's level, not the spell's cost.

On round 1, you script Summon Earthpower. Your mage uses one gem to boost his path temporarily to level two, making this possible. At the end of the round, your earth path is now at two for the rest of the battle.

On round 2, you script Bladewind. Your mage uses one gem to boost his path temporarily to level three, making this possible. At the end of this round, your earth path is back to level two.

On round 3, you script Bladewind. Your mage uses one gme to boost his path temporarily to level three, making this possible. At the end of this round, your earth path is back to level two.

However, because you're using earth gems to meet the minimum level, you get no fatigue reduction beyond a magic scale. You can easily get off Summon Earthpower and the first Blade Wind, but low encumbrance and reinvig may be necessary depending on the spell and scales. Fortunately some nations have sacred mages.

This gets expensive quickly, as you might imagine. But if you're not doing it often, it is cheaper than forging Earth boots.

Thanks, I was at work so was just thinking about it, which was I didn't just try it. Glad I asked though b/c I din't know boosting cost a gem...

Well, not all boosting.

Summon Earthpower is an E2 spell. It only costs a gem if you start out at E1. If you start at E2, its free- excepting a measly 20 fatigue, of course.

Realized I cannot script it b/c haven't researched high enough but the info is helpful for planning in my first game. Thanks.
