SE5 duplicating designs bug

Not sure if this is a bug in SE5 or BM1.11 but periodically, some of my ship and unit designs will duplicate themselves. I will get an exact copy of several designs show up in my designs screen. The funny thing is that even the design name is dupicated, which would normally not be allowed. Anyone else seen this? Has it been reported?

This is in a simultaneous turn game, if that matters.

Yes I got this some time ago. I was ending up with ship designs with the same name as well as being able to name my ships the same as another empire with the same shipset. I started thinking perhaps 0 and o in the game aren't disimilar enough to be obvious eg wolf and w0lf, but then I started to really think I was able to copy design names. I mentioned it here and there was a bit of a discussion but I eventually dropped it. If you know something is possible you can try not to do it.

Yep. I'm talking right down my designs screen, ship for ship, suddenly seeing 2 of each. Interestingly the game thinks they are different because only the "real" one will show any "Number Constructed" etc. while the clone will show 0.

That's what I thought you meant, but it's similar so I mentioned my version.

I've noticed that in simultaneous games, if you save the game after you have created some designs that turn, next turn there will be two identical copies of that design. The first copy displayed is actually the copy, so make in each case, make the copies at the top of the list obsolete, and it's basically how it should be. It doesn't seem happen if you save before creating the designs, and I can't remember but could only be if you load the game, then end turn.

Well, it's a lot better than your designs DISAPPEARING !

It is good that you have been able to reproduce this bug. Have you reported it?

In fact there's still a small issue with disappearing designs: in a simultaneous game, if you want to retrofit your ships to some design, then change this design before the retrofit order is executed, your ships won't be retrofitted, and the design will revert back to the original one.

Yeah, reported it back in August.

What I've also noticed in simultaneous games, which may be what you're seeing Blue Templar is modifying a design only works if done on the same turn which you create it. If you create a design, then try and change it next turn the changes are basically ignored. To work around this, you can copy the design you want to modify, then use the copy for building & retrofiting. Tough luck if you want to use the same name - you can't. This I haven't reported.
