INSTALL PROBS
 

I have installed WinSPMBT several times today and keep getting the same error when it runs.

"ActiveMovie Window: winspmbt.exe - Unable to Locate Component

This application has failed to start because ad2mpegin.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this.

I installed it in sequence:

Main
v2.0
v2.5 (noticed V2.51 no longer listed)
v3.0
v3.5

So, I uninstalled it, and began again. After the MAIN install the program worked fine.

Installed V2.0, and the error reappeared.

Did not continue with other updates.

Researched on the web. It seems some ADOBE products can be linked to this error. The solution is on:

I hope this helps anyone else with this problem.

well - we don't use any adobe products, so it must be something to do with that product registering a dll for DirectShow (a part of DirectX).

So I would try -
switching off the splash screen (uses direct show to display the splash screen, we use a single picture, not a movie).

if that lets you get in, then you may have to switch off all sound as well.

However - it seems best to repair whatever adobe has broken, as described in that page?. Probably something to do with adding custom adobe CODECS, is my guess.
