Tartarian chains?
 

Description says that beings from the underworld would attack the chains´ carrier.
Did anyone see this or it´s just flavor?

You occasionally get a Ashen Angel attacking, IIRC. If you have the Chains on a SC or even a strong thug, you should be safe.

Yeah, an angel attacked my tartarian. he controlled it with the chains but couldnt get it after the battle. I thought it was sent by the AI.

Tartarian + Succubus?
 

I equipped a succubus with the Chains once.

When the seduction attemtpt failed, she would often succeed in capturing the unit with the chains, ending the assassination battle.

I never know what happened to the chained commander however.

Does anyone know what happens in this case?

Yeah when you attempt a seduction (or assaination) and fail and instead charm them they attack the enemy in that province, usually dying in the process. It should be reported as a battle that you can watch.

I'll have to pay attention next time this happens--I don't remember seeing any battle.
